Widespread Rain, Snow to Hit J&K on Feb 20

Srinagar, Feb 17: A fresh Western Disturbance is set to impact Jammu and Kashmir on February 20, bringing widespread rain and snow across the Union Territory.

The system, currently developing over Afghanistan, will move towards the region by February 19 night, with precipitation intensifying throughout the following day.

According to Kashmir Weather, moderate to heavy rain and snow are expected in most parts of J&K. The Jammu region is likely to record higher precipitation compared to Kashmir Valley, while Chenab Valley districts—Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda—may see heavy precipitation.

In the Kashmir plains, rain will dominate initially, but a sharp temperature drop could lead to snowfall, especially under prolonged heavy precipitation. Gulmarg, Sinthan Top, Peer Ki Gali, and Mughal Road are expected to receive heavy snowfall.

Temperatures, currently 15-18°C, will plunge below 7°C on February 20. Lightning and thundershowers are also expected, particularly in Jammu region due to higher temperatures.

Weather conditions are expected to improve from February 21 onwards.
