Baramulla, Feb 06: An unauthorised structure resembling Kaaba has been demolished by authorities in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district which was illegally erected in Waripora village by a mentally ill man.
The individual, who falsely claimed to be Sufi saint Sheikh Nooruddin Wali, had been misleading people by inviting them to visit his site as an alternative to Umrah.
His actions sparked outrage, prompting religious scholars, including Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, to demand his immediate arrest.
Acting swiftly, officials detained the man and confirmed that he would undergo psychiatric evaluation at a mental health facility before any legal proceedings are pursued.
Authorities have reiterated that such acts of religious misrepresentation will not be tolerated. (KNT)
