Srinagar, May 07: In a major escalation of cross-border hostilities, seven civilians, including a woman and two children, were killed and 38 others injured on Wednesday as the Pakistan Army targeted dozens of forward villages along the Line of Control (LoC) with intense artillery and mortar shelling.
Reports said the shelling caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure in multiple areas, forcing many families to flee to safer locations.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
Authorities have condemned the cross-border aggression and are monitoring the situation closely as fears of further escalation rise in the region.
