People Demand Ring Road from Al-Stop to Harnag

Bakshi-abad and Monghal Roads in Shambles

Anantnag, Jan 06 (KF): The residents of Monghall, Hanji Danter, Pushwara, and Naidkhun have called upon the district administration to issue actionable directives for immediate repairs and initiate the road-widening process of the route connecting Dialgam National Highway at Furrah with the Harnag National Highway point.

This measure, they believe, will provide much-needed relief to commuters and potentially serve as a ring road to NH44.

The renowned Bakshi-Abad road, which passes through the Industrial Estate (IE) Anantnag, is in a severely dilapidated condition.

The road lacks a proper drainage system, leading to waterlogging that further deteriorates the surface and creates unsanitary conditions, compounding the difficulties faced by commuters and pedestrians.

“Despite repeated appeals to the Executive Engineer, Anantnag, no substantial action has been taken,” said Ishtiyaq Bashir, a local resident.

Residents of the area, along with transporters and industrial unit holders at IE Anantnag, are demanding the immediate restoration of the Bakshi-Abad road to make it motorable.

Similarly, the link road connecting the village of Monghal in Anantnag is in a deplorable state due to neglect by the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department.

Local residents have repeatedly requested intervention and repairs, but their appeals have gone unanswered. ___ (KF)
