Derogatory video: Man in question has no association with us, says PDP

Srinagar, May 27: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday condemned the unwarranted slogans raised against a community during a protest demonstration by the party on polling day in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The PDP clarified that the person in question is not associated with party in any shape, adding party president Mehbooba Mufti has always held the community in high regard.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), PDP in a post said “Regarding a derogatory video about our Gujjar community doing rounds on social media we would like to make it abundantly clear that the man in question is not associated with PDP in any shape or form but keeps barging into our meetings”.

“We condemn these venomous unwarranted slogans. Mehbooba Mufti sahiba has always held them in high regard & will continue fighting for their rights,” PDP in a post on X added.

The purported video, which is doing rounds on social media platforms, has drawn severe criticism from opponents of PDP.

“Shame on PDP President Mehbooba Mufti & her Party workers who used nefarious & derogatory remarks against Gujjar Bakerwal community. It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first time that Mehbooba & Her Party targeted Gujjar Brothers,” BJP Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency in a post on X reacted.
