Srinagar/Jammu, Feb 10 (KF): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched extensive raids across Jammu and Kashmir today, February 10th, targeting individuals and institutions suspected of involvement in terror funding and radicalizing youth.
The operation marks the latest move in the NIA’s ongoing crackdown on terror networks operating in the region.
In Jammu city, NIA sleuths descended upon Gujjar Nagar and Shaheedi Chowk, conducting searches at a private school and the residences of its functionaries, including the chairman.
The agency also raided the homes of two former leaders of the banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir – Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, the organization’s ex-chief, and Sayar Ahmad Reshi – in Kulgam district.
These raids come amidst concerns over the continued presence and activities of terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir.
The banned Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir was declared an unlawful association by the Indian government in 2019, but concerns remain about its potential influence and reach. (KF)
