Baramulla, Jan 07 (KF): As the picturesque resort town of Gulmarg prepares to host the 4th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games starting February 21st, sanitation has become a key focus area. Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Ms. Mathoora Masoom, visited the Municipal Committees of Magam, Kunzer, and Tangmarg/Gulmarg on February 6th to personally oversee preparations.
Ms. Masoom emphasized the importance of presenting a clean and well-maintained environment for athletes, tourists, and officials. She directed comprehensive pre-event sanitation drives to cover the entire stretch from Narbal to Gulmarg, ensuring thorough cleaning efforts. This initiative underscores the commitment to showcase the best of the region during the Games.
Recognizing the need for seamless collaboration between various departments involved in the event, Ms. Masoom appointed the Executive Officer of MC Tangmarg/Gulmarg as the Nodal Officer. This strategic move streamlines communication and facilitates efficient coordination, crucial for a smooth-running event of this scale.
These proactive measures highlight the dedication of the authorities to providing a welcoming and hygienic environment for the Khelo India Winter Games. With a strong focus on cleanliness and efficient coordination, Gulmarg gears up to showcase its winter wonderland to the nation while celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship.

The first part of the Games, including ice hockey and speed skating, is already underway in Leh.
