35-Year-Old Woodcutter Loses Life in Tragic Accident Under Chinar Branches in Anantnag

Anantnag, Feb 11 (KF): A pall of grief has descended upon the Zalangam Kokernag area in Anantnag district, South Kashmir, after a 35-year-old woodcutter, identified as Showkat Ahmad Mir, lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday.

Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir, reportedly came under the falling branches of a Chinar tree while working in the Lokbawa area. Sources close to the family, quoted by Kashmir First, revealed that the incident unfolded with heartbreaking suddenness.

According to the reports, Mir was rushed to a nearby hospital by concerned individuals. However, despite their best efforts, doctors were unable to revive him, declaring him brought dead on arrival.

The news sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing their condolences to the bereaved family. A police officer, speaking on behalf of the Anantnag district authorities, confirmed the incident and revealed that a case has been registered.

The officer further identified Mir as a woodcutter by profession and confirmed that his body currently lies at the district hospital in Anantnag. He added that after completing the necessary legal and medical formalities, the body will be handed over to the family for last rites. (KF)
