MeT Warns of Rain, Snow & Farmer Advisory in J&K

Srinagar, April 17 (KF): The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued a weather alert for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting a series of weather events over the upcoming days.

Starting from April 17, the region is expected to experience generally cloudy conditions, with the possibility of rain and snow in higher reaches on April 18 and 19. During this period, thunder and gusty winds are also anticipated.

“Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations on April 18 and 19 due to the expected adverse weather conditions,” stated the MeT. Additionally, there may be temporary disruptions to surface transportation over higher reaches on April 19, along with water logging in low-lying areas.

From April 20 to 25, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry, with localized activity possible at a few places. However, another spell of rain is forecasted for April 26 and 27.

Residents are cautioned about the possibility of landslides and mudslides at vulnerable places throughout this period. Stay tuned for further updates and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during these weather events. (KF)
