MeT Forecasts Rain, Snow Till February 3rd in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 27 (KF):

Light to moderate rain and snow are expected at many places from January 28th to 29th, with the possibility increasing to widespread areas on February 1st and 2nd. While the snowfall isn’t anticipated to be major, it’s crucial to stay informed and prepared for changing weather conditions.

Here’s a breakdown of the forecast:

  • Timing:
    • Light to moderate rain and snow: January 28th to 29th, February 1st and 2nd
    • Increased possibility of widespread rain and snow: February 1st and 2nd
  • Intensity:
    • Light to moderate snowfall expected
    • Be prepared for changing conditions
  • Impact:
    • Potential temporary road closures in higher reaches and important passes
    • Moderate to dense fog likely over Jammu Division plains till January 25th

The MeT Department advises travelers and residents to exercise caution and plan their activities accordingly. This includes checking road conditions before venturing out, staying updated on weather warnings, and packing warm clothes and winter gear.

  • Stay indoors if possible, especially during heavy snowfall.
  • If you must travel, drive slowly and cautiously, and be aware of black ice.
  • Dress warmly in layers, and wear waterproof boots and gloves.
