Jammu, Mar 25: Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma Monday asked the government led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to engage in dialogue with the PHE daily wagers, observing 72-hour strike, in support of their demands.
Sharma raised this issue twice in the House.
In the second sitting, while the debate on demands for grants for the departments under the charge of Minister Javed Ahmad Dar was going on, LoP rose, addressing the Chair and treasury benches.
“The daily wagers are protesting but none is listening to them. They have turned aggressive and have clashed with the Police. Due to their strike, people are facing an acute water crisis. This is an emergent issue related to people. What is the harm If a group of ministers talks to them so as to placate their sentiments,” Sharma said.
Speaker said, “This issue was raised during the morning also.”
“Yes, I’m raising it again because the government did not reply to my plea,” Sharma said.
PHE daily wagers are protesting, seeking their regularisation and early release of wages.
