LG appoints Mubarik Gul as Speaker Protem for J&K Legislative Assembly

Srinagar, Oct 18: Hours after assigning portfolios to five ministers, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Sinha, on Friday appointed Mr. Mubarik Gul as the Speaker Protem for the J&K Legislative Assembly.

In an official order, the Lieutenant Governor stated, “Mr. Mubarik Gul is appointed as Speaker Protem to administer the oath/affirmation to the Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in accordance with Section 24 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, on October 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Legislative Assembly, Srinagar.”

The order added that Mr. Gul will also discharge the functions of the Speaker until the election of a permanent Speaker is held.

Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor assigned portfolios to five ministers in the J&K Government.
