HC grants bail to IAF officer in alleged sexual assault

Srinagar, Sep 13: High Court today granted anticipatory bail to Wing Commander of Indian Air Force PK Sehrawat in allegation of sexual assault on his female colleague.

Justice Rajnesh Oswal granted bail to Sehrawat subject to certain conditions. The court said that he shall furnish two solvent sureties for an amount of Rs. 50,000 each, to the satisfaction of the Investigating Officer and personal bond of like amount.

“He shall not leave the Union Territory of J&K without the permission of his Commanding Officer and will not contact any of the prosecution witnesses either physically or through any other mode”, the condition laid down in bail order reads.

An FIR No. 0370/2024 dated 08.09.2024 has been registered against Sehrawat for commission of offence under Section 376(2) IPC with Police Station, Budgam after receiving a complaint and conducting investigation.

The FIR has been challenged by the IAF officer in a separate petition whereby the court has directed that the investigation in the case shall continue, however the charge sheet shall not be filed without permission of the Court.
