Gunfight breaks out in north Kashmir’s Kupwara

Srinagar, Aug 28: A gunfight broke out late Wednesday between security forces and terrorists in Khushal area of Tanghdar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, reports said.

Quoting an official, news agency NVI reported that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Khushal Post area of Tanghdar on the basis of a tip-off about presence of terrorists.

As the joint team of forces zeroed in on the the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A police officer also confirmed about exchange of firing, stating that one to two terrorists are believed to be in the area.
