GMC Anantnag Installs First Endoscopic Workstation in J&K

Anantnag, Dec 26: In a groundbreaking development, Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has set a new benchmark in healthcare by becoming the first institution in Jammu and Kashmir to install a state-of-the-art endoscopic workstation. The facility, inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, promises to enhance the quality of medical services in the region.

Installed in the Department of General Medicine under the leadership of Dr. Mashkoor Ahmad Beigh, the advanced workstation will significantly improve gastroenterological care. Dr. Beigh highlighted that the new equipment would enable vital procedures like ERCP, early cancer detection through polypectomy, and management of gastrointestinal bleeding to be carried out locally, eliminating the need for patients to travel to distant centers.

The successful installation of the workstation came after years of delay, with Prof. Najeeb’s consistent efforts and leadership ensuring its timely completion. “This addition will be a game-changer for the people of South Kashmir,” said Dr. Beigh. “It brings advanced healthcare services directly to the doorstep of the community.”

Dr. Beigh also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Najeeb, emphasizing that this milestone would further strengthen GMC Anantnag’s position as one of the top medical colleges in the country. The endoscopic workstation is expected to improve patient outcomes and elevate the institution’s reputation in medical education and healthcare delivery.
