2-Year-Old Girl Dies of Suffocation, 3 Hospitalized in Kulgam

Kulgam, Dec 28: A two-year-old girl died of suffocation caused by a charcoal firepot in Ves Batapora area of Kulgam district, while three other family members were hospitalized.

According to Tehsildar Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad, the incident occurred in a family from Ramban living as tenants in the area.

The family reportedly used a charcoal firepot for heating, which led to suffocation overnight. The affected family of five was shifted to PHC Mohammadpora for medical assistance by local administration, police and health teams.

The two-year-old, Aadita Jan, daughter of Nissar Ahmad, was declared dead upon arrival at the health facility. The other three family members are in stable condition and are receiving treatment.

Tehsildar Kulgam guided the ambulance during heavy snowfall to ensure the family’s transfer to the District Hospital Kulgam for further medical care. (KNS)
