Anantnag, May 22 (KF): special function was held at MMABM Associated Hospital, GMC Anantnag, where the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), in coordination with the Departments of Pediatrics and ENT, distributed free hearing aids to deserving children suffering from hearing impairment.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Sajad Majid Qazi and Dr. Salman Khurshid from the Department of ENT; Dr. Mahbooba Rasool, Associate Professor, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine; Dr. Showkat Hussain Tali, Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Head of Family Medicine; the Medical Superintendent of AH GMC Anantnag; along with DEIC Pediatrician Dr. Sheikh Nisar, Medical Officer DEIC Dr. Gowher Ahmad Wagay, Audiologist/Speech Therapists Ms. Munaza and Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, and other officials.

In his inaugural speech, DEIC Manager Mr. Urfan Manzoor welcomed all the officials and beneficiaries and highlighted the various free services provided by DEIC, including hearing aids for children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

All dignitaries present praised the efforts of DEIC at MMABM Associated Hospital, GMC Anantnag, and expressed hope that such free services would continue to benefit children in need.

It is worth mentioning that DEIC at MMABM Associated Hospital, GMC Anantnag, offers free services related to birth defects, childhood diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and developmental delays.

Principal and Dean, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, appreciated the medical and surgical services being provided free of charge through DEIC. In her message, she encouraged all parents to bring children up to 18 years of age with issues related to hearing, vision, brain, heart, kidneys, bones, cleft lip and palate, seizure disorders, chromosomal conditions like Down syndrome, etc., to DEIC MMABM Hospital for free investigations and treatment.
